ABOUT TOMMY G
Tom “Tommy G” Gebell is a songwriter, musician, and producer whose path into songwriting came later than most - after years spent as a guitarist, collaborator, and student of the craft. Over time, that foundation evolved into a character-driven writing voice shaped by observation, experience, and a deep attention to how people think and act.
Forming Tommy G & The Experts, he expanded that voice into a story-first sound. The 2026 single “This Smile,” written from a woman’s point of view and sung by Angela Hurt, marked a clear step forward. Earlier that year, the debut album A Road to Somewhere explored themes of adulthood, reinvention, regret and resilience.
Gebell began playing guitar at eight and joined his first band in eighth grade. In the late ’90s, he co-founded Half Past 6, an acoustic duo that remains active today. What began as an unplugged cover act gradually evolved into an outlet for original material, resulting in two independent releases and years of collaboration, experimentation, and song development.
Gebell worked primarily as a guitarist and sideman before stepping forward as a songwriter and, eventually, a vocalist. Encouraged early on by collaborator Mark Mandel, he learned to trust the songs over technical perfection. His approach reflects that path - favoring preparation over posturing, honesty over polish, and a steady commitment to the craft.
